Houses of Heber J. Grant

These are pictures of the houses that Heber J. Grant had lived in during his calling as an Apostle and then as Prophet. His father died not long after Heber was born, so he began working early to try to support his family. This work ethic is attributed to his successful career as a businessman, entrepreneur and land developer. He was called as an apostle at the young age of 25 on October 16, 1882. He was sustained as Church President on November 23, 1918.

Heber J Grant, the first Church President born in Utah, lived in this home from age 52 until his death at age 89.

Heber J. Grant's presidency is noted for his overseeing the church in the aftermath of World War II, placing greater emphasis on the Word of Wisdom, dedicated the first two temples outside the U.S., speaking on the first radio broadcast of General Conference, overseeing the first radio broadcast of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir on "Music and the Spoken Word, and for organizing the church's renowned welfare program.
